Back to Basics | Makeup starter kit

Today's post is about products that are 'needed' to start a makeup kit. These are just some of the things I think are best products to start off a makeup kit!

First things first, a great base needs to be created. For this if you are a total beginner in makeup, a bb cream might be best because it gives a light coverage otherwise I would use a foundation like Rimmel 'Wake me up' foundation £8.99 which helps make skin appear more awake and light but still only have a light to medium coverage.

Next a powder for me is vital, especially because I have oily/combination skin. I suggest something like Miss Sporty 'So clear' transparent powder £2.99  I have already featured this powder in My recent beauty buys post but it helps matte down skin and reduce shine.

One thing that can change a face are eyebrows, which Is why I think that a brow mascara is a must have. I suggest one by Mua £2 to start off a makeup kit because it's really affordable and is easy to  brush through your eyebrows to add colour and define, it's really that simple!

For lips I suggest something like this Collection 2000 lip butter £2.99 . Lipsticks are too much to put in a starter kit but using a lip butter means your lips are moisturised but they come in a range of colours, so colour can be added to your lips.

And finally the most important thing in my makeup bag for me is mascara! I use the Maybelline 'Rocket volum' mascara £7.99 . It thickens and adds colour to your lashes!

This is my idea of a makeup starter kit!

Recent beauty buys!

Hello again,
Today I am going to be posting about some products that I have recently bought, letting you know how much they cost and my view on them. Hope you enjoy!

The first product I recently bought was the Miss Sporty 'So clear' translucent powder £2.99. I originally bought this product because of the low price for a powder but since actually using the product I like the fact that it is good to use on teenage skin. The only thing I find with this product, is that it doesn't keep my skin matte for up to 7 hours like it states on the packaging and usually starts wearing off after an hour or two.

The next product was the 'Crystal Shine' finishing oil by Schwarzkopf £5.49. Recently due to the colder weather and heating being on, I have noticed my hair isn't as shiny as it could be. I like the scent of this hair oil, it doesn't weigh my hair down and has lasted well so far.

The next product was the 'smoothing cleansing lotion' by Garnier £2.99. I have used the Nivea cleansing lotion before but decided to try this. It is quite a thin lotion, meaning it spreads easily and it also removes waterproof mascara which is great. If I was to choose which cleanser I like out of this one and the Nivea one, I would choose the Nivea one just because it seemed to removed more makeup in one go when I used it before.

The next product was the 'Wake Me Up' foundation by Rimmel £8.99. I have used this product in the past but have only recently come back to using it. I bought the foundation in the shade 'Ivory 100' which was the lightest shade I could find at the time but after looking online I have found they do the foundation in 'light porcelain, which I would rather have bought. Since using the foundation I have found that throughout the day the foundation seems to turn to more orange and is too dark for my light skin tone. However this foundation makes your skin appear more 'Awake' and has a dewy finish.

The next product was the 'Hide The Blemish' concealer by Rimmel £3.99. This wasn't actually the concealer I wanted originally however my mum picked me up the wrong one from Rimmel's range! However i have still been using it since and have found that It is a creamy concealer, easy to blend and gives a slightly 'highlighted' look to the skin meaning it's great to use under eyes and doesn't crease too much unlike other stick concealer's out there on the market.

And the last product was the 'Colour Tattoo' in Eternal pink by Maybelline £4.99. This product is a Cream Gel eye shadow meaning it's really blend-able, lasts a long time and has a gorgeous shimmer to it. There isn't really anything I could fault with this product, a definite must have.

(All prices were correct at the time online from Superdrug).

My everyday makeup routine...

Hello again!
Here I am making a post about my everyday makeup products and the order in which I apply them! I hope you enjoy!
Firstly before I even start to apply make up I cleanse and tone my face to remove any old makeup that may be left over from washing my face the night before!
Once my face has dried I apply the NYC primer all over my face to prepare my skin for makeup!
£3.49
After that has soaked in I apply foundation, currently I am using the Maybelline  better skin foundation which I apply using a blending brush until all the product has blended into my skin!
                                             £8.99
To cover any darkness under my eyes I follow foundation with a liquid concealer by Mua which helps to cover & conceal any problem areas that foundation might have missed.
£1

In order to set my foundation and concealer, using a powder brush I apply a loose powder over my entire face but focusing on my t zone as my skin is very oily at times.
£2.99

As my eyebrows are a light colour and difficult to see I add some colour and definition to them by using the Mua eyebrow pencil in blonde.
£1

And finally to finish off my everyday makeup I apply mascara! However to create a curl and add length to my lashes I use an eyelash curler as it improves the overall finish of the look of my eyes!
