Makeup Routine | Updated

Recently I was thinking about my blog and realised that this time last year, I had posted my 'Makeup Routine' (which can be found here). Since then some of the products I use have changed, some are the same and some, completely new!

In this post I will be sharing the products I use on a daily basis and how I apply them!

Base:
After applying my Vivo Primer all over my face, concentrating on my T-zone, I go on to apply foundation. Recently I have been loving the L'Oreal True Match Foundation £9.99, it leaves a natural look/finish to my skin, it's light weight and super blend able, I apply it with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush.
Next I like to conceal underneath my eyes and have been using the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer £4.19 for a while now, using it in the colour 'light' helps to brighten under my eyes whilst it conceals. I like to use my finger to blend the product in, as I've found this works best for me.
Finally to set my foundation and concealer in place, I tend to use my Collection Sheer Loose Powder £2.99. I think this works best with oily skin for me and I use this with my Primark Powder Brush.

Complexion:

Foundation can leave me face looking flat and lifeless, to bring it back to life I like to use bronzer and blush.

The bronzer I use is the 2True All Over Natural Bronzing Powder £2.29. I simply apply some to the areas of my face that the sun would naturally hit using my Real Techniques Contour Brush.
The blush I use is the Makeup Revolution Blush £1, for only one pound it's so affordable for everyday where, the picture shows the blush in the shade 'Treat' which is a lovely pink/coral shade and I apply it with my Technic Blush Brush. I use a powder blush and bronzer because they work best with oily skin which I have.

Eyebrows:

I have naturally light eyebrows, so adding colour and defining them is an important part in my everyday makeup for me.
The two products I use for my eyebrows are both from Make Up Academy (MUA) and they are the Eyebrow Pencil in Blonde £1 and the Eyebrow Mascara in Fair £2. I use the pencil to outline the shape of my brows then use the mascara to add the colour and definition. I find that the most important thing when using a pencil, is to keep brushing your brows, for the most natural finish.

Finishing touches:
To finish my makeup and bring it all together I use mascara and lip balm. My favourite mascara, as it's the only one that I find holds a curl is the Maybelline Rocket Volume Mascara in Waterproof £7.99. I always use eyelash curlers before applying as it adds a curl to my lashes and improves the look of them.
The final thing I do is apply a layer of my Carmex Moistrising Lip Balm £2.69 to soothe and moisturise my lips!

5 Nail colours for spring/summer!

With the weather warming up not only will our wardrobes be changing, so will our nail colour. Out go the dark winter shades and in come brighter pastel colours.
Below are my 5 top colours for spring/summer...
First I have chosen this nail varnish by Barry M, this is their 'Hi Shine Gelly Nail Paint' in the colour 'key Lime' £3.99. This reminds me of fresh green grass and is a nice bright colour perfect for spring and summer! Also this nail varnish has a great coverage even after only one coat.
Next I have chosen this nail varnish by Models Own, this is one of their 'HyperGel' varnishes in the colour 'Lilac Sheen' £4.99. This is a pretty pastel purple! The formula of the nail varnish is quite thin, but very build able.
Next I have chosen this nail varnish by Mua, in the colour 'Bold Blue' £1. This is a pale blue colour, this nail varnish is really affordable for only £1 although it has a thinner consistency and chips easily so does need a base and top coat to make it last longer.
Next I have chosen another nail varnish by Models Own from their 'HyperGel' collection in the colour 'Cornflower Glea' £4.99. This looks fairly similar to the Mua nail varnish above but this nail varnish is more of a purple/blue colour!

Lastly I have another nail varnish by Barry M from their 'Hi Shine Gelly Nail Paint' in the colour 'Papaya' £3.99. This nail varnish is  a peachy pink colour, almost reminds me of something like raspberry sorbet or ice cream... Perfect in the summer sun!

Overall these are my 5 spring/summer nail recommendations...
Are there any here that you like or do you have any you would recommend?

Back to Basics | Makeup starter kit

Today's post is about products that are 'needed' to start a makeup kit. These are just some of the things I think are best products to start off a makeup kit!

First things first, a great base needs to be created. For this if you are a total beginner in makeup, a bb cream might be best because it gives a light coverage otherwise I would use a foundation like Rimmel 'Wake me up' foundation £8.99 which helps make skin appear more awake and light but still only have a light to medium coverage.

Next a powder for me is vital, especially because I have oily/combination skin. I suggest something like Miss Sporty 'So clear' transparent powder £2.99  I have already featured this powder in My recent beauty buys post but it helps matte down skin and reduce shine.

One thing that can change a face are eyebrows, which Is why I think that a brow mascara is a must have. I suggest one by Mua £2 to start off a makeup kit because it's really affordable and is easy to  brush through your eyebrows to add colour and define, it's really that simple!

For lips I suggest something like this Collection 2000 lip butter £2.99 . Lipsticks are too much to put in a starter kit but using a lip butter means your lips are moisturised but they come in a range of colours, so colour can be added to your lips.

And finally the most important thing in my makeup bag for me is mascara! I use the Maybelline 'Rocket volum' mascara £7.99 . It thickens and adds colour to your lashes!

This is my idea of a makeup starter kit!

My everyday makeup routine...

Hello again!
Here I am making a post about my everyday makeup products and the order in which I apply them! I hope you enjoy!
Firstly before I even start to apply make up I cleanse and tone my face to remove any old makeup that may be left over from washing my face the night before!
Once my face has dried I apply the NYC primer all over my face to prepare my skin for makeup!
£3.49
After that has soaked in I apply foundation, currently I am using the Maybelline  better skin foundation which I apply using a blending brush until all the product has blended into my skin!
                                             £8.99
To cover any darkness under my eyes I follow foundation with a liquid concealer by Mua which helps to cover & conceal any problem areas that foundation might have missed.
£1

In order to set my foundation and concealer, using a powder brush I apply a loose powder over my entire face but focusing on my t zone as my skin is very oily at times.
£2.99

As my eyebrows are a light colour and difficult to see I add some colour and definition to them by using the Mua eyebrow pencil in blonde.
£1

And finally to finish off my everyday makeup I apply mascara! However to create a curl and add length to my lashes I use an eyelash curler as it improves the overall finish of the look of my eyes!

£1 Nail Varnishes!

There's not much that you can get for £1 nowadays...
However one thing that you can get is a nail varnish by a brand called MUA!
From left to right: Pitch black, Frozen yogurt,
Sweet peach, Bold blue & Pistachio ice cream

Here is my collection from the brands range of nail varnishes, which is sold at Superdrug stores however the whole of the collection is on the MUA website Here
Personally I think all of the colours that the brand do are lovely however the nail varnishes are quite runny and chip easily meaning that a few layers are needed and a top coat to make sure it lasts.
Swatches: same order as above

Even though as I said, the nail varnishes are thin, I would still recommend that people buy them as I am hoping to expand my collection!
